Soularize - Spencer's Heart
March 11, 2005
Before concluding our final general session this morning, Spencer Burke shared his heart with us, giving us a glimpse at the purpose behind Soularize and -- on a larger scale -- why he believes the work of deconstruction or "challenging" what we believe is important:
Do you agree, disagree, or both?
I agree, to an extent: I don't think the challenge is for everyone. For some it is helpful and invigorating. For others it is confusing. For some it is destructive.

Jon, I think you're right about that. Knowledge is a power which can be weilded for healing as well as harm. That probably applies here. Discernment and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit is therefore paramount.

I think it's good, in theory. We must be careful though that it is LOVE that Spencer talked about that is the what the world (and the church) sees, not cynicism or pessimism or the glass-is-half-empty attitude that can be so easily portrayed in deconstructive emergent thinkers and leaders.
