Random Thoughts

Here's what's on my mind today:
- I'm wondering: will the usefulness of parachurch organizations continue into the coming decades? And if so, will some of them focus on helping the Church effectively engage issues surrounding social justice?
- I've been fairly consistent over the past year, praying the Compline office each night before sleep. What I've noticed is that I don't sleep nearly as well when I miss a night. Anyone else have a similar experience?
- Ive finally started reading "Simply Christian" by N.T. Wright, and began resonnating immediately. I'm also enjoying "Ancient-Future Time" by Webber and "The Elfstones of Shannara" by Terry Brooks.
- My search for an associate pastor continues. Dear friends, Dale and Rochelle Dumont -- who have been filling-in for the past 5 months, are now off to Asbury as Dale begins his M.Div. If you think of it, please keep our need in your prayers.
Blessings.
Chris

If current trends continue (e.g., emerging church, house church, post-denominationalism), then it would seem para-church organisations will become more important for fulfilling some of the roles and missions that local church cannot fulfil and maybe denominations once tried to.
This is especially the case with collective-action, cross-border and large scale projects. Not just social justice, but education, ministry training, research, counselling and so on.

fernando,
Thanks for commenting on my "parachurch" musings. The angle you've taken seems to make a lot of sense.
Blessings,
Chris
